About Us

Johnson Marine Woodcarving was founded several years ago by Marelyn Johnson who has been carving for over a decade. She has been collecting woodcarvings since she was six and was given her first knife, a piece of wood, and a box of bandaids when she was eleven. With a masters degree in art, a lifelong interest in boats, sailing and all things related to the sea, creating woodcarvings came naturally to Marelyn.

We create our own designs, use designs traditional to the New England coast, and also draw from carvings used on historical vessels.

Carvings can be crafted to fit your individual needs: for a business, a residence, house numbers, boats, gifts and one of a kind sculptures.

Our carvings are finished with paint, gold-leaf, stain, varnish, or a combination of the above. All surface materials are resistant to fading caused by the sun.
